The capital of the state, known as “ the city of the palm trees “ through its museums and murals, it offers visitors its magic and tradition. Among many other interesting sites, the cathedral, the government palace and Hidalgo theater can be visited.
Its gravity point known as the first white town in America. In view of its location is one of the most adequate areas for growing coffee, being still one off the greatest producers in Mexico.
Pictorial town mostly inhabited by natives where crafts, such as masks, can be bought at its traditional Sunday market.
Located in the boundary between Colima and Jalisco with an area of 54,800 acres. The slopes of the volcanoes are notched by deep ravines, and covered by fir, oak and pine trees.
This tourist center was inaugurated in 1975 taking advantage of Carrizalillo lagoon and the natural attractions of the place. Its is located on branches of El Volcan de Fuego in a mountainous zone of abundant vegetation and pleasant climate.
The lagoon is surrounded by hills, and by a gravel panoramic road. There are free parking areas to enjoy the landscape. The Tourist Center offers to the visitor the opportunity to practice navigation in boat or kayak and the fishing of black lobina. Besides of having camping and picnic areas, it also offers 24 hours security patrol, cleaning service, playgrounds, horse rides and restaurants.
Located in an old crater volcano, the lagoon comprises the Recreational Center La María. This place, in the last years, has become one of Coliman’s favorite tours because it offers to the tourist the possibility of enjoying the nature in an atmosphere of safety and comfort.
This calm lagoon is surrounded by abundant vegetation of big trees such as, moho, fresno and zapote, which protects in their shade the coffee plantations. Around the lagoon, there is a gravel road that communicates the small and cosy esplanades shores where you can have a picnic. Also, it has palm tree shelters and sunshades. From here, the natural landscape can be admired. In the lagoon the lobina, carp and tilapia fishing can be practiced. Boat and horse renting services are offered; and if you like ecotourism, you can go hiking and find lovely places where you can camp. These tours give you the opportunity to see deer’s and a great variety of birds. The Recreational Center La María offers the following services: Hotel, bungalows, restaurant, camping areas and 24 hours security patrol.
These two bays are divided by the Santiago Peninsula. Due to their physical similarities, they are known as twins. In the peninsula, one of the most attractive tourist complexes of the country is located. Manzanillo bay consists of the following beaches: Ventanas, Las Coloradas, El Viejo, San Pedrito, Las Brisas, Playa Azul, Salahua, Las Hadas and La Escondida, the fiscal wharf, and the interior port. The Santiago bay includes these beaches: La Audiencia, Santiago, Olas Altas, Miramar and La Boquita.
On the nearby beaches of Cuyutlán in Armería, you will find El Tortugario Ecological Center, where you can experience the magic of the marine life through fantastic interactive experiences that help to preserve endangered species. In El Tortugario, visitors will be able to release, from their own hands, baby turtles ready to return to the sea (depending on the climatological conditions).
